Start your trip with pickup at your Marrakech hotel at 8 am, continuing with your English speaking driver on a road trip through the striking landscape of rural Morocco as you head for the Atlantic coast.

Admire the stark beauty of the country’s arid terrain, keeping your eyes peeled goats and camels grazing in the countryside. During your ride, choose to make a pit stop at a community co-op where the area’s Berber women produce some of Morocco’s famed Argan oil from the nearby trees. The oil is typically used for cosmetics and cooking and is collected from the wild trees that grow in the area. Soon you’ll arrive in Essaouira. This fishing town is celebrated for its beautiful white-washed walls and striking blue architectural details. Spend your time in the city as you wish. You might wander over to the quays that line the ocean where you’ll see fisherman selling the day’s catch. Or spend some time snapping a few photos of the colorful fishing boats lined up along the shore. If you’re feeling hungry, grab a seat at one of the many restaurants serving up a variety of fresh seafood for lunch (at your own expense).
Continue your afternoon checking out any of Essaouira’s wealth of sights. Stroll through the medina where you’ll spot a variety of art and handicrafts like marquetry, a design technique that uses different types of inlaid woods to create intricate patterns. The technique is known as one of the more famous design styles of Essaouira. Make sure to save a little time to check out the city’s beach, where you can enjoy some sand, surf, and sun, before heading back to your Marrakech hotel with your driver in the evening.
